Minor League Baseball By The Associated Press
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. Mike Wood pitched seven scoreless innings and Dan Johnson hit his third grand slam of the season to lead the Sacramento River Cats to a 10-2 Pacific Coast League win over the Tacoma Rainiers last night. Johnson drove in five runs, including his big homer in the eighth, and Matt Wilson had three hits for the River Cats (45-27). Gil Meche (1-1) allowed three runs two earned and five hits in five innings to take the loss for Tacoma (38-30). Wood (11-3), who leads the Pacific Coast League in wins, allowed six hits. Tacoma scored its runs on back-to-back homers by Bucky Jacobsen and A.J. Zapp in the eighth inning against reliever Mario Ramos. Tacoma pitchers combined to walk 10 batters.
