Minor League Baseball By The Associated Press
SACRAMENTO, Calif. A.J. Zapp homered and later drove in the winning run with a double as the Tacoma Rainiers beat the Sacramento River Cats 3-2 yesterday. With the score tied 2-2, Zapp knocked in the winner when he doubled to right-center field in the seventh inning, driving in Justin Leone. Leone had led off the inning with a double. Leone also doubled to lead off the fifth and scored on Zapp's two-run home run. Starter Matt Thornton (6-4) picked up the win for Tacoma (38-29). Thornton gave up seven hits and two runs in six innings, striking out 11.
