BOSTON — New England cornerback Ty Law wants to leave the Patriots after playing a key role in the team's drive toward a Super Bowl championship.

"Right now, it's not about money," Law told The Boston Globe. "That bridge is burned. I no longer want to be a Patriot. I can't even see myself putting on that uniform again, that's how bad I feel about playing here."

Law, battling with the team over a contract extension, said he had "irreconcilable differences" with the club and told coach Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli, vice president of player personnel, he wanted to play elsewhere.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James had no comment to The Associated Press yesterday.

Law last month called a four-year $26 million offer from New England an "insult." The contract calls for him to make $16.9 million over the next two seasons. The proposal would guarantee Law $15.6 million over the next two years, the Globe reported.

"I can't do a thing about it but express my displeasure about playing for this organization," Law said. "I'll go to training camp. I've got bonuses for going to training camp. I'm just saying it won't be a comfortable working atmosphere."

Report: Lynch to visit Seahawks

Free-agent safety John Lynch is expected to visit with the Seahawks today, Newsday reported.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer is being pursued by as many as six teams, including the New York Jets; New England; Denver Broncos; Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals.

The Seahawks seek to replace Reggie Tongue, a 30-year-old free agent. Lynch is 32.

Notes

• Former lineman James Parrish, who spent time with 10 different teams, has died after a lengthy illness. He was 35.

Parrish, who lived in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, died Wednesday at Medical City Dallas Hospital, according to Cathy Pietzsch of Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano.

He was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year.

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive tackle out of Temple began his pro career in 1992 with the Miami Dolphins. He was a member of two teams that went to the Super Bowl — the 1994 Cowboys, who beat Buffalo; and the 1996 Steelers, who lost to Dallas.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; two young children; and his mother and stepfather.

• Former All-Pro linebacker Dwayne Rudd signed with the Oakland Raiders.

• The Kansas City Chiefs signed free-agent tackle Chris Bober to a five-year deal.

• The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed punter Josh Bidwell.
