Brian Sawyer, Sammamish swimming Sawyer, a senior, won four individual events all in state-qualifying times and swam on four winning relays as the Totems beat Bellevue and Interlake. His times in the 100-yard butterfly (51.98 seconds) and 500 free (4:43.03) are the fastest in the Class 2A/3A classification this season, and both earned him All-American consideration.
Pallansch, a senior, had three straight double-double performances as the No. 2-ranked Mustangs (14-0 overall, 9-0 conference) extended their KingCo 4A winning streak to 26 games with victories over Juanita, Inglemoor and Lake Washington. The 6-foot-2 forward averaged 15 points and 14 rebounds during that stretch. Redmond gymnastics team The Mustangs, coached by Kim Dare, tallied a school-record 175.55 points in a dual-meet win over Juanita to improve to 6-1. Sophomore Dani Okerlund led the way, winning the all-around with 37.0 points, including a score of 9.4 on beam. Redmond is trying to become the first gymnastics team in school history to qualify for the state meet.
