Samantha Tinned, Garfield basketball Tinned, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, had the game of her young career to help the third-ranked Bulldogs beat No. 10 Roosevelt 64-43, handing the Roughriders their first KingCo 4A loss. She dominated inside with 24 points and 17 rebounds. Tinned also contributed to wins over Lake Washington (14 points) and Ballard (12). Zach Cooper, Kennedy basketball Cooper, a senior guard, helped the Lancers end a three-game losing streak, pouring in a season-high 34 points, including the game-winning basket in a 63-62 win over Lindbergh. He also scored 26 points to key a 62-60 win over Highline. He raised his scoring average to 22.9 points per game. Snohomish boys swim team The Panthers, coached by Rob Serviss, clinched at least a share of their fifth straight WesCo North dual-meet championship by crushing top contender Marysville-Pillchuck, 122-64. Andy Ferguson led the way with wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly. Stars of the week are selected by The Seattle Times staff and published Tuesdays.
