Kentlake High boys basketball
The 6-foot-5 junior made all eight of his field-goal attempts and 5 of 6 free throws en route to a game-high 21 points as the Falcons opened the season with 71-55 victory over Graham-Kapowsin High of Pierce County. Crooks also had seven rebounds, a blocked shot, a steal and an assist.

The senior guard scored 29 points despite sitting out with three early fouls and nearly brought the Highlanders of Renton from behind in a season-opening 67-63 loss to Liberty High. Nevi made three 3-pointers and added five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
