My Major League Soccer power rankings -- week three

Posted by Joshua Mayers

Real Salt Lake Logo.jpg1. (1) Real Salt Lake 2-0-0
4-1 beatdown of Galaxy -- without Saborio, no less -- is a result the whole league noticed.

2. (3) Colorado Rapids 2-0-0
Reigning champs off to a perfect start. Earned a 1-0 win vs. Chivas despite being shorthanded.

3. (2) New York Red Bulls 1-0-1
Made an MLS-record six changes to the Week 1 lineup, still managed a draw in Columbus.

4. (4) Los Angeles Galaxy 1-1-1
Humbled in Utah with Landon Donovan on int'l duty. DP Angel scored his first goal, though.

5. (7) Philadelphia Union 2-0-0
Leading the East after 2-0 start. Mettle will be tested in big road game against L.A.

6. (10) San Jose Earthquakes 1-1-0
With two goals vs. Dallas, Chris Wondolowski now has team's last 12, dating to September.

7. (5) Sporting Kansas City 1-1-0
Bizarre PR stunt continues after allowing NFL star Chad Ochocinco an open invite to train.

8. (11) Chicago Fire 1-0-1
Gets a week off (not counting Open Cup on Wed.) to enjoy a surprisingly unbeaten MLS start.

9. (12) New England Revolution 1-0-1
No surprise that standout M Shalrie Joseph has been involved in all three goals this season.

10. (9) Seattle Sounders FC 0-2-1
Took a record 26 shots in last game, but wins are becoming the only stat that matters.

11. (6) FC Dallas 0-1-1
Home attendance nearly cut in half from Week 1 (20,145) to Week 2 (11,022). Yeesh.

12. (8) D.C. United 1-1-0
Charlie Davies scored another PK goal, but the good story didn't equate to a win this time.

13. (13) Vancouver Whitecaps 1-1-0
Will be without suspended DP Eric Hassli against Kansas City. Can someone else score?

14. (18) Toronto FC 1-1-0
A breakout performance by newcomer Javier Martina (two goals) was a nice surprise.

15. (14) Houston Dynamo 0-1-1
Gig Harbor's Tally Hall had a big game in Seattle. The GK will need more for them to compete.

16. (16) Columbus Crew 0-1-1
F Jeff Cunningham surely has revenge on his mind Friday against Dallas, his former club.

17. (15) Chivas USA 0-2-0
Brutal schedule this week: road games Tuesday (Portland, Open Cup) and Saturday (Toronto).

18. (17) Portland Timbers 0-2-0
Two losses and already forced to play 3rd-string GK. Sounders FC fans surely enjoying this.
