Wednesday was moving day for the Sounders FC roster
Posted by Joshua Mayers
A much smaller crowd took the field for Sounders FC training at Qwest Field on Wednesday.
As noted on my Twitter feed, three players have left the team to attend meetings in Washington D.C. regarding the ongoing labor dispute: Kasey Keller, Taylor Graham and James Riley.
Other players who are currently no longer with the team: Jamel Wallace, Ellis McLoughlin, Lamar Neagle, Kevin Souter.
The remaining pieces are nearly a final roster when you look at it.
While four goalkeepers were in training Wednesday, we know just two will be on the final roster. So let's take another crack at who could be available on opening night.
SENIOR (21)
GK -- Kasey Keller
GK -- Terry Boss
D -- Jhon Kennedy Hurtado
D -- Tyrone Marshall
D -- James Riley
D -- Leo Gonzalez
D -- Patrick Ianni
D -- Taylor Graham
D -- Tyson Wahl
D -- Zach Scott
D -- Jeff Parke
M -- Freddie Ljungberg
M -- Osvaldo Alonso
M -- Steve Zakuani
M -- Peter Vagenas
M -- Stephen King
M -- Nathan Sturgis
M -- Roger Levesque
M -- Brad Evans
F -- Fredy Montero
F -- Nate Jaqua
DEVELOPMENTAL (4)
M -- Sanna Nyassi
M -- David Estrada
M -- Miguel Montano
F -- Mike Fucito
Jaqua and Graham could also be IR possibilities (UPDATE 8:29 p.m. that IR list could include Eylander too) if their injuries aren't completely healed by March 25.
If they're both good to go, that leaves one final cut. My guess would be a defender, as nine is probably too many. If a gun was put to my head, I might say Zach Scott could be the last man out, though he is pretty versatile and athletic.
What do you think of that potential opening-day roster?
