Sigi Schmid quotes, 10-30-09
Posted by Jose Romero
On desired time off between first round games:
"A week. A normal week. Ten days is a long time but we will manage it and we will make it work."
On reserve game: "It was important for the guys who haven't been playing as much to get a solid 60 [minutes] in. We didn't want to take them to 90 because it's been a while since some of them played 90 without us having a reserve league. So we didn't want to put them in that zone where maybe there's an injury. But we felt it was good for them to get a solid 60 minutes in."
On physicality in MLS Cup Playoffs: "As long as it gets called the same next week. My fear is because the game was as physical as it was that now maybe there's talk amongst the officiating crew that we have to tighten it up. All of a sudden what was OK this week is not OK next week. That's when players feel like wait a second, I got kicked in the head last week and nothing happened. Now I kick a guy in the head and I get red carded. So we have got to stay consistent now from week to week. Since that's the way we called it, we have to stay consistent next week and call it the same way. .. The rest of the games this weekend will give an indication as to how they are going to let it play."
