Tyrone Marshall addresses his supposed "digging" at Columbus

Posted by Jose Romero

Yes, I read some of the posts elsewhere about Sounders FC defender Tyrone Marshall allegedly digging around the penalty kick spot in Columbus and that supposedly having an impact on Guille Schelotto's missed PK in Seattle's 1-0 win last Saturday.

Here's what Marshall said about it:

"Aw c'mon. I mean, the guy put the ball behind the penalty spot. I can't go and kick it for him. It's just one of those things that I think luck was on our side that night...It had nothing to do with me. Any other day he'd probably put that in the top of the net."

Added Marshall:

"They can use all the excuses they want to say that was me. If that's the case then fine. Every time he takes a penalty kick I'll make sure I'll walk in front of him."

Marshall said he was arguing with the linesman as Schelotto set up for the kick, about the Crew's Steven Lenhart trying to take away defensive position and be there for a possible rebound.
"That's was what I was doing there, so I don't know what they're talking about," Marshall said.
