Report: Fredy Montero's rights now belong to MLS

Posted by Jose Romero

So says the Colombian site enlajugada.com. The report, in Spanish but you can Google translate and sort of get the idea, says Deportivo Cali president Rodrigo Otoya came to the U.S. with VP Cesar Caicedo where they negotiated the transfer of Cali's portion of Montero's rights to Major League Soccer.

The two executives also had advanced discussions about transferring the rights to Sounders FC D Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Real Salt Lake defender Jamison Olave to MLS.

This, obviously, would be good news for Sounders FC. My gratitude to Dave Clark of Sounderatheart.com for passing along the report to me.

Meanwhile, in CONCACAF WCQ action, Honduras crushed Costa Rica 4-0. So Los Ticos remain in first with 12 points. U.S. is second with 10. Honduras is tied with the U.S. and Mexico is still in fourth with 9 points. So the U.S. wasn't hurt much at all by today's loss, as it didn't lose ground to Costa Rica.

In New Jersey, Montero and Colombian squad lost a friendly to Venezuela 2-1. Montero didn't score.
