Sigi Schmid on Nate Jaqua situation
Posted by Jose Romero
I asked the coach about how he is handling the matter with the team. Here's what he said after today's practice at Starfire:
"It's obviously a difficult thing. We talked as a group before practice began, so the guys sort of, I think everybody sort of knew what was happening. It was an opportunity for Nate to talk to the whole group a little bit as well. We're supportive of Nate and obviously it's a situation that's happening in Oregon, and we're going to try and makes things as normal as possible for him within the training environment. Hopefully it'll take its legal course, or its natural course."
Sounders FC did not make Jaqua available for comment Sunday, and that won't happen for the immediate future.
Also, it appeared that Jarrod Smith hurt his right knee near the end of practice. He didn't finish and was limping before being placed on a cart and driven to the locker room.
Here's a photo of Smith going against Jaqua at practice.
Osvaldo Alonso is still a ways from coming back. He won't play Tuesday in the U.S. Open Cup for sure, Schmid said.
