The story behind the jerseys worn tonight

Seattle wore the rave green. Why? Equipment staff didn't bring the blue jerseys to Portland after all (despite what I was told) though they were asked to.
So the Timbers decided to wear black instead of dark green so as to better differentiate the teams. "We felt there was still enough contrasts between their green and our green," Schmid said. "There wasn't any gamesmanship. I wish I was that clever to do that. I hope the Portland team understands that, because that was never our intent. And I know our equipment people feel really bad about the error they made."
