A very tough loss

Posted by Jose Romero

Tough to take, when one considers that Sounders FC held the ball for much of the game and played much better than its first showing here at HDC vs. Chivas USA in April. Granted, some players that were there in April for CUSA were not this time, but Seattle was without starters Tyrone Marshall and Osvaldo Alonso, and lost Pete Vagenas even before the game.

Now next week Seattle must play without El Presidente and its top offensive producer of late, Nate Jaqua. And now it finds itself in a tie for third place in the West after being in first and second place for more than two months.

This team just can't stay away from the red card -- that's five this season and six suspensions -- and nobody is happy about it. Speaking of not happy, didn't seem like Fredy Montero was too happy about coming out of the game in the 65th minute. I asked Sigi Schmid about the change. Le Toux came on.

"I just thought we needed somebody who was going to run around a little bit and stretch their defense. Fredy likes to get the ball to his feet, he likes to drop off the back line....he had some opportunties in the first half. He had a tremendous opportunity in the second half and I just felt maybe if we had a little more energy, a little more running...Seba came on and played well."
