Sounders FC day off
Posted by Jose Romero
No practice today, then four days of work in a row before it's off to L.A. I will be making this trip.
A couple links for today. First, my colleague Steve Kelley, a soccer fan, on Kasey Keller, who keeps getting it done as time goes on.
My story on Sounders FC's depth being tested.
As far as I know, Fredy Montero is not going to join the Colombian side for WC qualifiers. Sounders FC would have found out last week if it were to happen.
I'll assume for now that Osvaldo Alonso won't be match-ready for Chivas USA. So it might be the same group of midfielders as last week -- Evans, Vagenas, Ljungberg and Zakuani. Le Toux would be the other option, moving Evans inside. Or possibly Patrick Ianni at defensive center mid, though that's a longshot to me.
I think Sigi Schmid will get a good look at Sturgis, Wahl and Ianni this week and a combination of two of those three players will start at fullback with Riley and Hurtado.
Hurtado has to be careful -- he now has four cautions. One more over the next three games, and he is suspended for a match.
Good captions from everyone last week with the Kevin Forrest photo. If you like those, I'll keep them coming.
