Here's some quotes. I asked him about Tyson Wahl's play and how Hurtado fared vs. Moreno and others. I thought this wasn't one of Hurtado's better games.

(On whether he was overall disappointed with the way the team played) "No. I thought at times we played some very good soccer. I mean, we tried to play a little bit differently tonight, with [Freddie] Ljungberg and Montero, and I thought both of them had a bigger effect on the game. Obviously, Ljungberg, having been out for that period of time, takes away a bit of the sharpness from you, but I thought they both had a good impact on the game. If we can get Montero, Ljungberg, [Nate] Jaqua, [Steve] Zakuani, [Brad] Evans all on the field more, then that understanding and that cohesion and the ability to play off each other is going to continue to improve. So there were times where it was very good. There were some good combinations, like the combination between Zakuani and Ljungberg that set up the penalty kick, it was a nice combination. I thought the goal was a good goal. Freddie did well because he knew he had to play the ball off into the space for Nate, who had a great volley. There were times where we were right down to the cusp, where Freddie beat the guy into the end line...Those are things that are starting to happen. "

(On his emotions about playing against his former team...) "Obviously, Columbus is a good team. One of the things that I said to my guys after the game, Columbus, with Rogers and [Eddie] Gaven and Moreno and [Emmanuel] Ekpo, and [Chad] Marshall, some of those guys have got 60 games together now. When you get to that point, sometimes you can tell there's a good understanding and good movement off the ball for each other because they sort of know what the next guy's going to do. They're a good team. But for us, as I said to a couple of the guys when they came up before the game, we said hello to each other, but I know that they're trying to beat us and they know that I'm trying to beat them on this particular day."

(On why Tyson Wahl started) "I just figured Tyson's been playing well and training well, and it gave us a natural left-footer on flank at outside back. I thought he did a fairly good job doing that. I thought he hit some good passes out, especially in the first half. We felt that that was a part of our defense and we wanted to make a change."

(On Alejandro Moreno's playing -- my question about Hurtado--) "I thought he [Hurtado] actually did all right for a guy like Moreno. Obviously, Alejandro scored a good goal. But I think he only got called for one or two fouls, and Alejandro usually draws four or five a game, which is a good thing. One of the two fouls, the one he got the yellow card on, I didn't think that was a foul. But I have the benefit of having coached Alejandro for a number of years, so I pretty much know when he's going down and when he's getting kicked. He [Hurtado] had a little bit of a groin issue in the second half. We checked with him a couple of times, and he felt he could continue to go and go, so he ended up finishing the game, but that might be why he's a little more subdued."

(On going from playing Colorado to Columbus, and substituting Patrick Ianni into the game) "It's just getting into the rhythm. Colorado plays very direct and different. Columbus knocks the ball around a little more, so there's a little more running when you're defending. So I thought 60 minutes was pretty much it for him [Pete Vagenas]. And then we wanted to bring Ianni in because they were playing some balls in the air, and I felt he could win some of those challenges in the midfield."

(On whether he instructed Ljungberg to take the penalty kick or if he chose to do it on his own...) "Usually, if I choose somebody and he doesn't really want to hit it, that's probably not a good choice. Usually I let the players resolve that on the field. You have an idea by watching and so forth who's going to hit it. I figured it was either going to be Ljungberg who was going to step up and hit it, or possibly Vagenas might have stepped up to hit it. Freddie grabbed the ball. We have confidence in him. You make penalties, you miss penalties. It's just one of those things."
