Quick update from practice
Posted by Jose Romero
I asked Coach Schmid about the injury situation, and he said the following:
-Freddie Ljungberg is feeling better but has to regain his strength. He practiced Saturday and today. "We'll see how he feels tomorrow morning and then we'll make the determination on the rest of the week," Schmid said of Ljungberg, who is recovering from a migraine.
-Osvaldo Alonso has a lower quadriceps injury and will not play tomorrow, and probably not this Saturday either. "But it's not as bad as we thought it might be," Schmid said. Alonso was hurt at the start of Saturday's game.
-Brad Evans (ankle sprain) practiced today so it will be day-to-day thing. Schmid didn't rule out the chance of Evans and Ljungberg playing in the U.S. Open Cup match tomorrow.
-Zach Scott will be evaluated Tuesday about the extent of his lower abdominal strain.
-MID Peter Vagenas missed practice due to a family situation but is expected to be available to play tomorrow.
Other news:
-Fredy Montero is NOT a lock to be with the Colombian national team for World Cup qualifiers in June. He is, as he said, in the pool of players who could get called up.
-Jarrod Smith is joining his New Zealand teammates for international matches and leaves Sounders FC on Sunday.
