ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Thunder scored two goals late to beat the Seattle Sounders 2-1 in United Soccer League First Division play Thursday night.
A superb goal from Youssouf Kante, the first of his Sounders career, put Seattle (5-6-8) ahead in the 43rd minute.
The Thunder (5-8-5), which had lost six of its last 10 league games, tied things 1-1 on Ryan Kallman's header in the 78th minute, then got the game-winner from Melvin Tarley three minutes later.
The Sounders now return home for a big matchup against league-leading Charleston (9-4-4) in a preview of next month's U.S. Open Cup semifinal match.
Tickets for Saturday's 8 p.m. match at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila are still available at www.ticketmaster.com.
