Sounders play with 10, lose 2-1 to Carolina
From team reports
The Seattle Sounders, playing with 10 men because of an early red card, lost to Carolina, 2-1, on Wednesday.
Sounders forward Sebastien Le Toux scored the lone goal on a penalty as the Sounders suffered their second defeat of the season to move to 3-2-3 in United Soccer Leagues action.
Goals from Railhawks forward Connally Edozien and an own goal from Sounders defender Noah Merl offset Le Toux's effort in Cary, North Carolina.
The Railhawks jumped on the board early when Martin Nunez received a pass running down the right side, got into the box and a slid a low pass to Edozien, who scored.
Carolina wouldn't lead for long as defender Mauricio Segovia shoved Sounders defender Taylor Graham to the ground as a corner was being taken, and the referee pointed to the spot.
In the 16th minute, Sounders defender Zach Scott went in hard on a loose ball with his studs showing and caught Railhawks midfielder Kupono Low in the back. Scott was shown a red card immediately.
In the 44th minute, Merl headed a ball back to goalkeeper Chris Eylander that fell beyond his reach into the net.
