Sonics will pick No. 4 in NBA draft

Seattle Times staff reporter

Goodbye Derrick Rose and so long Michael Beasley.

A hard-luck season got even worse as the Sonics, who had the second-worst record in the NBA, finished fourth in today's draft lottery.

Seattle had a 19.9 percent chance of winning the lottery, but the odds were greater (31.9 percent) to land the fourth pick.

Chicago entered the lottery in the ninth position and rose to the No. 1 spot. Miami will pick second in the June 26 draft and Minnesota third.

Rookie Kevin Durant, last year's No. 2 pick, represented the Sonics on the podium and assistant general manager Rich Cho oversaw the closed-door proceedings.
