Notebook | Injury forces Cavs' Daniel Gibson to miss Game 6

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson will miss Game 6 of Cleveland's playoff against the Boston Celtics after separating his left shoulder during the second half Wednesday night.

Gibson, one of the Cavs' best perimeter shooters, left early in the fourth quarter following a collision and did not return. The team estimated he would miss one to two weeks.

The Cavaliers trail three games to two in the best-of-seven series and could be eliminated tonight.

Gibson emerged as a star in Game 6 of last year's Eastern Conference finals against Detroit.

• Utah F Andrei Kirilenko missed practice because of a travel visa, a day before the Jazz faced the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals. Agent Marc Fleisher said Kirilenko had to finalize a travel visa for a family trip to France this summer, and Thursday was the only day he could do it without having to wait another month.

• Sources confirmed to the East Valley Tribune that Phoenix general manager Steve Kerr spent Thursday interviewing Terry Porter, Detroit assistant coach and former Milwaukee head coach. Sources also dismissed a report by KCAL-TV in Los Angeles that Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis was "the top candidate" for the Suns position. As of right now, Rambis is "not on Phoenix's radar" and the Lakers have not been asked permission from the Suns to speak to Rambis.

• Houston C Dikembe Mutombo, 42, still isn't ready to retire. "I'm going to consider to keep playing basketball. The next part will be to tell my lawyer," Mutombo said in Thursday's online edition of the Houston Chronicle. "My body and my mind is responding to the thrill of the game. The coaches and the fans and everyone are in there."

• Mike Dunlap is leaving his job as a Denver assistant coach to serve on Lute Olson's staff at the University of Arizona.

• Charles Barkley acknowledged he owes a $400,000 gambling debt to a Las Vegas Strip casino and promised to repay it after a prosecutor said the retired NBA star faced criminal charges.

"My mistake," Barkley said in an interview at a pro-am golf tournament in Hoover, Ala. "I'm not broke, and I'm going to take care of it."

The Wynn Las Vegas resort alleged in a civil complaint — filed Wednesday in a Nevada state court and first reported by the Las Vegas Sun — that Barkley failed to repay four $100,000 casino markers, or loans, received last Oct. 18 and 19.
