Sonics Notebook | Carlesimo picks up technical vs. Denver
Seattle Times staff reporter
Play of the game: Late in the third quarter, Kevin Durant led a fast break on the left side of the court and floated a pass from the free-throw line to Jeff Green, who flushed an alley-oop dunk over Kenyon Martin despite being fouled. Green sank the ensuing free throw, which gave Seattle an 89-83 lead.
Turning point: Jeff Green scored five points and Durant had four as Seattle outscored Denver 16-12 in the second overtime.

With 7:57 remaining in the second quarter of Sunday's game, coach P.J. Carlesimo lobbied hard on behalf of Jeff Green and was given a technical foul. Green was assessed with a blocking foul on a Kenyon Martin shot. It was Carlesimo's second technical this season and first since Nov. 14, 2007. The penalty will cost him $1,000.
Indiana's Jim O'Brien leads NBA coaches with 13 technicals.
Shoe confusion
The Sonics' marketing staff accepted full responsibility for a fan-appreciation promotion Friday that caught players by surprise. Six players were to give their autographed shoes to patrons after the game, but the players weren't told of their role until minutes before the handoff was to take place.
A few players were hesitant to leave the locker room after Friday's 79-66 loss to Houston and unenthusiastic about participating in the giveaway.
The public-address announcer on Friday said that six players would hand out free merchandise after Sunday's game, but public relations spokesman Tom Savage said Sonics cheerleaders were scheduled to pass out T-shirts.
Note
• The Milwaukee Bucks need a general manager and reportedly the team may express interest in Sonics assistant general manager Scott Perry.
• Reserve forward Damien Wilkins returned Sunday after missing two games to attend the birth of his son, Jayden Lamont Wilkins, who was born 3:30 a.m. April 2. Jayden and mother Traci Boyd are doing fine.
"It's still hard to believe that somebody is going to call me Daddy," Wilkins said.
• Because of a scheduling conflict with the Mariners, FSN will broadcast the next three Sonics games on alternative channels. Comcast will air the games on Channel 117.
