Meet the Sonics ...
Noel Felix, forward

Height: 6 feet 9. Weight: 250 pounds.
Experience: Second year. Age: 25.
College: Fresno State.
His game: Felix has worked on his offense to become a forward that can spread the defense with his outside shooting. He's solid around the basket with respectable rebounding skills.
Personal: Family is from Belize. Has an older sister, two younger brothers and a 9-month-old son named Noel Felix III. Felix said he is reading more, particularly inspirational books and the Bible, and spends free time composing handwritten letters to his child.
Resume: Played 12 games with the Sonics last season. He played for three CBA teams, including the Yakama Sun Kings, averaging 13.4 points and 6.0 rebounds combined.

Rundown: After giving the team Thursday night off, Sonics coach Bob Hill anticipated a letdown in energy on Friday and found none. Media watched the final 30 minutes of a 3-½-hour workout, with three officials refereeing a scrimmage. The workout concluded with shooting drills.
Position battle: It's intentional when point guards Earl Watson and Luke Ridnour are pitted against each other in drills and scrimmages. Hill said he's using the matchups to further determine what he will do with his rotation, saying it's easy to put a solid starting five on the court, but the difference this season could be the next four off the bench. Ridnour had some smooth passes that forwards didn't convert. Watson continues to find himself on the winning team. Hill is going to separate the veterans from newcomers today to begin evaluating potential cuts.
Thumbs up: Hill continues to praise center Robert Swift for his play during training camp, particularly his improvement on offense and weight gain. He could use a haircut, though, Hill said.
Thumbs down: Invitee Denham Brown, a 6-foot-6 rookie from Connecticut, is showing his inexperience and lack of shooting skills.
