CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Seattle Sounders tied 1-1 with the Charleston Battery in their USL First Division opener Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium in front of 4,324.
The Battery took the lead on a goal by Louie Rolko in the first half, but Seattle scored a goal in stoppage time to earn a point.
The Battery almost scored in the first minute after Seattle failed to clear the ball in the 6-yard box.
Sebastien Le Toux found himself one on one with Battery goalkeeper Dusty Hudock in the 14th minute. Le Toux tried to slot the ball into the right corner, but Hudock made a good save to deny the goal.
Charleston broke the deadlock in the 37th minute. Forward Aaron King set the ball across to Rolko, who scored past goalkeeper Chris Eylander.
The equalizer came on midfielder Kenji Treschuk's shot.
