Lake Stevens High baseball
Blacken, a senior outfielder/pitcher, went 3-for-4 with two home runs and drove in all five runs in a 5-2 season-opening win over Shorecrest High on March 11. With two outs and two strikes in the top of the eighth inning, he hit a bases-loaded double to break a 2-2 tie and give the Vikings a three-run lead.

Lake Stevens High girls track and field
Tri, a senior, won four events Friday as the Vikings beat Edmonds-Woodway High 111-37. She placed first in the shot put (34 feet, 7 inches), javelin (97-4), high jump (4-10) and 100-meter hurdles (16.25 seconds).
Cascade High girls tennis team
The Bruins, coached by Ashley Layton, swept all three doubles matches in straight sets to edge Oak Harbor High 4-3 in a WesCo North season-opener last Wednesday.
The Bruins led 3-2 when they lost the No. 3 singles match and won the No. 3 doubles match simultaneously for the final margin.
Amy Pederson, playing her first varsity singles match at No. 4 singles, won 6-3, 7-5.
