Thursday, April 19, 2007 - Page updated at 03:44 PM Suspect arrested in Edmonds college bomb threatsLynnwood police have arrested a 16-year-old Edmonds Community College student suspected of making several bomb threats this morning as a ploy to skip class. The calls, made to the college about 8 a.m., triggered the evacuation of Lynnwood Hall, which houses the campus library and various administrative offices. The building was reopened about 11 a.m. after a search by police and bomb-sniffing dogs, said police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions. "In the calls, he referenced Virginia Tech. He said the bomb would go off at 11 a.m. in the library," she said. The caller didn't "come across as credible," she said, but police treated it seriously in light of Monday's massacre. The teen was arrested at his home in Lynnwood, where he lives with his parents, Sessions said. He allegedly tried to conceal his identify and location by using a Web-based phone service, she said. He told detectives he conspired with a person from England whom he'd met over the Internet, she said. Copyright © 2007 The Seattle Times Company
