Latino family resources

Latinos Unidos

Deaconess Children's Services offers free support groups for Spanish-speaking families, meeting weekly in Everett and Monroe.

Adults learn family-management skills, including budgeting and nutrition, and receive problem-solving assistance with issues such as housing.

Children are offered homework help, social games, arts-and-crafts opportunities and special projects.

Volunteers are "desperately needed" to work with children, the nonprofit says.

Groups meet Mondays at New Horizon Christian Church, 18200 Cascade View Drive, Monroe, and Tuesdays at the Mount Baker Community Center, 1401 Poplar St., Everett. The program is offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in both locations.

Familias Unidas

Lutheran Community Services Northwest and the Familias Unidas Latino Resource Center work together to serve the Everett, Marysville and Monroe areas.

Bilingual services include classes in English, parenting and citizenship; job postings; an emergency food bank; youth and adult groups; youth tutoring; and summer camp. Ethnic celebrations also are held.
