Boys basketball Edmonds-Woodway at Meadowdale, 7:30 p.m. Friday Meadowdale, which won WesCo South last year, features guard Jake Linton, who could be the division's most exciting player. Edmonds-Woodway, after finishing 12-6 last year and losing by one point in the winner-to-state game, wants to prove it belongs with WesCo's big boys. This is a good early road test. Mount Vernon at Lake Stevens, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Mount Vernon, last year's WesCo North and District 1 champion, meets a Lake Stevens squad searching for an identity after losing all of its starters and 95 percent of its scoring. Lake Stevens' coach, Mark Hein, thinks his defense-minded team will surprise some people. Girls basketball Monroe at Stanwood, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday Monroe center Kirsten Thompson, who is headed to Arizona State University next year, begins her final WesCo North campaign against Stanwood, a young team guided by first-year coach Dennis Kloke.
