UPDATE: Guy Quintino, the bassist from the Past Duo, just emailed me a cut from their new CD with "You're Gonna Miss Me," one of the pieces they were performing while I sketched. They also run a jam in Ballard at Conor Byrne the first Wednesdays of every month. Enjoy!

I got a tip that Thursday was the kickoff of the Lake City Farmers Market. "Why not check it out?" I thought. It was only a record-setting 91 degrees. Plus, I had never been to Lake City. The sweaty trip on the bus was worth it.

I got to hear this band, The Past Duo, playing blues from the '40s -- that doesn't happen every day -- and I got a taste of how minor celebrities must feel. Someone sat next to me as I was sketching and asked, "Are you the Seattle Sketcher?" It turned to be a fellow blogger, Danae Kaemingk, from Lake City Live, where she describes Lake City as "a neighborhood that has always been up and coming."

It was great to meet friendly people like Danae and Mike Dash. You'll see Dash here Friday and learn about authentic Neapolitan pizzas.
