Seahawks will activate WR Deon Butler
Posted by Danny O'Neil
The Seahawks have told wide receiver Deon Butler that he will be activated.
Tuesday is the deadline for Seattle to activate Butler, who started the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he recovered from a compound fracture of his leg suffered in a game at San Francisco last December.
Butler was a third-round draft choice from Penn State in 2009, and he is entering his third season. He showed great promise last year, and he's the fastest receiver on Seattle's roster in terms of straightaway speed.
He caught 36 passes last season for 385 yards. He had four catches on Dec. 12 at San Francisco, matching his career high, but suffered his injury after making a touchdown reception.
His activation means a move will be forthcoming from the Seahawks to make room on the 53-man roster. Stay tuned.
Butler had been on the PUP list, not allowed to practice for the first six weeks of the season. He has been practicing the past three weeks, and Tuesday was the deadline for Seattle to activate him if it wanted to have him available this season.
