Seahawks, Golden Tate have guidepost for contract

Posted by Danny O'Neil

The New York Jets agreed to terms with offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse, a second-round choise. The terms: $3.25 million over four years with $1.025 million as a signing bonus, according to the New York Daily News.

Ducasse is the highest pick to agree to terms from the 2010 draft class. What makes that even more significant to Seattle is that Ducasse was chosen one pick after the Seahawks selection Golden Tate with the 61st choice.

There's nothing official about the slotting of contracts, and in fact, last year quarterback Mark Sanchez -- chosen one pick after Seattle took Aaron Curry -- was signed before training camp. That didn't prevent a one-week holdout for Curry as the Seahawks insisted upon a sixth year added to Curry's rookie contract.

But Ducasse's deal should provide a floorboard in some respects to getting a deal negotiated with Tate.
