Tuesday's practice notes
Posted by Danny O'Neil
• LB Lofa Tatupu did not participate, watching practice in a stocking cap. He's recovering from a torn pectoral muscle, and he sounded very much like a player who didn't like the decision to keep him out of even a June practice afterward.
• The Seahawks had a new face attempting field goals: punter Jon Ryan handle place-kicking during special-teams drills with Olindo Mare absent. And before anyone starts holding their breath over a kicker's absence, please remember these are voluntary workouts, and Mare has been at previous practices.
• Offensive lineman Mansfield Wrotto worked with the tackles during positional drills. The Seahawks are looking to see where he fits in the new scheme.
• These are no contact drills, which means players are un-padded and in shorts, but RB Julius Jones lost the ball twice in seven-on-seven drills. In the second one, defensive end Chris Clemons pushed fullback Owen Schmitt back into Jones, knocking the ball loose.
• The deep connection of the day was between quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to rookie receiver Golden Tate who got behind cornerback Marcus Udrell and then ran under Hasselbeck's high-arcing deep ball.
