Seahawks promote two within college scouting department

Posted by Danny O'Neil

The Seattle Seahawks announced they promoted Scott Fitterer and Eric Stokes within their college-scouting department.

Fitterer, the team's west region college scouting director the past five years, is now the director of college scouting. Stokes, previously the west area scout, becomes the assistant director of college scouting.

The interesting thing about the move is the continuity it promotes. When a team undergoes a front-office overhaul as Seattle has in the past five months, the question is how deep those changes will go. Well, so far under general manager John Schneider, the Seahawks have promoted from within rather than hire from outside.

Will Lewis, who was the team's pro personnel director, was promoted and is now the team's vice president of football operations. Tag Ribary, who had been a pro scout, moved into Lewis' previous job as the director of pro personnel.

Now there are inevitably going to be some changes, but the promotions show that it won't be a wholesale overhaul.
