Reggie Williams signs with Seahawks
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Reggie Williams signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
Williams, 26, is a former first-round draft pick from the University of Washington, chosen No. 9 overall in 2004, becoming the highest Husky chosen since Steve Emtman was take first in 1992.
Williams was on a tryout at Seattle's three-day minicamp, which concluded Thursday. The Seahawks then had to decide whether they wanted to keep him.
Of the 17 players trying out at the camp, Williams is the third to be signed. He joins receiver Mike Williams and fullback Ryan Powdrell.
Reggie Williams did not play in the NFL in 2009 after a pair of drug-related arrests. He played five years in Jacksonville, the team that drafted him in 2002. In 2007, he had a franchise-record 10 touchdown receptions.
Williams is 6 feet 4, 215 pounds and he fits the mold of big, physically imposing receiver.
Signing a contract doesn't guarantee Williams will make the team, rather that he will get a chance to play his way onto the 53-man roster during training camp.
