Tight end Ben Watson signs with Cleveland
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Tight end Ben Watson headed to Cleveland after his visit with Seattle earlier this week.
He's not coming back.
The Browns announced Watson signed a signed a contract with the team Thursday morning.
Now, tight end is one of the few positions that is not a need for the Seahawks because there's some guy named John Carlson who's pretty well established here.
It's not insignificant, though, as Brian McIntyre of NorthwestFootball.net explains, pointing out the way Jeremy Bates used two tight ends as receiving targets in 2008, the year he called passing plays in Denver.
"During that '08 season, Broncos tight ends Tony Scheffler (61) and Daniel Graham (50) were the fourth and fifth most-targeted receivers in an offense that attempted the third-most passes in the NFL."
