Anthony Davis: A whole lot of tackle at 323 pounds

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Rutgers' Anthony Davis weighed in at 323 pounds at the combine Thursday, which is big. It's just not as big as Davis used to be.

He said he weighed 360-some pounds when he enrolled at Rutgers. So how did he work his way down in weight? He got up every morning at 5:30 to work out for two years. So is he a danger to balloon back up north of 350?

"Nooooo," he said, saying that there are so many barriers you have to work through to lose that amount of weight he would have to force feed himself to get back to being that heavy.

Davis had a year of eligibility remaining, but opted to enter the draft, and he certainly passes the eyeball test for a left tackle. He's got that big-bodied build compared to Trent Williams of Oklahoma, who is stockier.

Williams moved from right tackle to left tackle in his senior season at Oklahoma, but he said he feels more comfortable on the left side, the position he played before coming to Oklahoma.
