Seahawks to look at Sherman Smith as potential running backs coach

Posted by Danny O'Neil

The Seahawks coaching staff is becoming clearer, and one of the only remaining vacancies is at running backs coach where Sherman Smith, formerly of Washington, is expected to be in Seattle Thursday for an interview.

In other staff news, coach Pete Carroll stated that Jedd Fisch will coach the quarterbacks, Pat McPherson will be in charge of the tight ends, Jerry Gray will coach the secondary. In addition, Jeremy Bates (offensive coordinator), Ken Norton Jr. (linebackers) and Brian Schneider (special teams are coming from USC. Alex Gibbs will be serving as offensive line coach, but it's expected the Seahawks will add an assistant line coach as well.

Update at 4:41 p.m.: And it has been pointed out by 1990Coug that I was remiss in not identifying Sherman Smith as an original Seahawk. Smith played seven seasons with the franchise from 1976-1982.
