Jim Mora, Tim Ruskell and the former dysfunction of Seattle
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Specifically, Ruskell chafed at Mora's public endorsement of Mike Holmgren being hired to become Seahawks president. Mora voiced that support first in an e-mail to Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke in the days before it was announced Seattle and Holmgren failed to reach an agreement for him to return to Seattle. Mora stated it publicly two days after that decision was announced when he said during a press conference, "It's no secret that I'm a Mike Holmgren fan, and I was an advocate of him coming back, to the point that I made my feelings known to the people that make those decisions. I'm probably as disappointed as anybody that he's decided to reject our offer and go onward."
Apparently, that didn't sit so well with the man who hired Mora to be Holmgren's replacement. According to Millen, Ruskell sent Mora a text message that sent a message that began, "Real classy ..." It continued to say, according to Millen, "Now I know I was 100 percent wrong about you and I paid for it dearly."
That's certainly an indication of the level of dysfunction that was occurring in and around the Seahawks over the previous six weeks where you had the president who resigned two-thirds of the way through the season texting the coach he hired to criticize the coach's support of the man whose staff he served on for two years before becoming head coach.
