"Best press conference of the year" -- Danny O'Neil, Seattle Times Sports

Posted by Danny O'Neil

No one can complain about coach Jim Mora's press conference on Wednesday. He came in with his hat pulled low and fired from the hip. He talked about the toughness he wants from his team. He talked about wanting players who'd put opponents on their butts, on their [something less nice than butts] and nail-eaters.

I'm going to put together an audio clip of the highlights to try and do it justice.

There are three injury situations to summarize first:

  • WR Nate Burleson is out for this week's game with a high ankle sprain. He will be replaced at split end by Deion Branch. Rookie Deon Butler becomes the No. 3 receiver.

  • QB Matt Hasselbeck will practice Wednesday.

  • LB Aaron Curry is expected to practice Thursday though he will be limited because of a hip-pointer suffered in Sunday's game.

There's one lineup change, too. Rookie Max Unger will start at center, replacing Chris Spencer. Mora said the switch involved more than just Spencer's difficulties snapping the ball this past week at Houston. Spencer and Mike Gibson will split time at right guard during the game. Unger, who played center his last two years at Oregon, started at right guard the first 13 games this season.
