Lofa Tatupu undergoes season-ending surgery

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu was in surgery in Alabama on Wednesday afternoon to reattach his torn left pectoral muscle.

Tatupu suffered the injury during Seattle's loss to Arizona on Oct. 18. There was a hope that the tear would not require surgery, however, that did not prove to be the case.

The surgery is season-ending. Patrick Kerney underwent the procedure in 2006 and returned to become the runner-up for the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 with Seattle. Guard Rob Sims underwent the surgery last year.

Tatupu was in Alabama and was diagnosed by Dr. James Andrews on Thursday.

I'm assuming Lofa is going on the IR. Any news of who will take his roster spot? Have the Hawks brought any free agents in in the past week?  Posted on October 29, 2009 at 2:48 PM by Willmore2000. Jump to comment
