Seahawks practice report

Thanks for tompage's note of concern, but I'm back and some say I haven't lost a step. Seattle finished its Monday practice, but there is no official injury report. All updates are taken from coach Jim Mora's post-practice synopsis.

What's Walter Jones' status this week: "We'll see as we go along," Mora said. "Still iffy. So we'll see where he is Wednesday."

There's the hope he could still practice Wednesday?

"There's always the hope," Mora said. "But we'll see. I don't know for sure yet. I don't know for sure."

On Locklear?

"Same thing," Mora said. "I'm not sure yet. Today was kind of a bonus day so neither of those guys got much work."

Mora talked about this being a bonus day, but Matt Hasselbeck didn't do all that much.

"No he didn't," Mora said.

Is Hasselbeck OK?

"Yeah," Mora said. "Oh yeah. Matt is fine. Matt had a good week last week. He's doing good."

Well, how about Lofa Tatupu, any update on his status?

"Still in a holding pattern. Still evaluating what the best decision is here for Lofa," Mora said.

Update at 1:40 p.m.: Mora was asked about what he needs to see from Jones?

"He just needs to get some work and then feel comfortable," Mora said. "It would be nice if he could practice for three or four days in a row and then play, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen or not.

"I can tell you this about Walt, he's diligent in his rehab. He's doing everything he can possibly do to try and get back on the football field. There's no question about that. It's a very frustrating process for him as well as all of us. But it's certainly not for lack of toughness, it's certainly not for lack of effort and due diligence in terms of doing the work that he needs to do. He's trying."

Are you reaching a make-or-break date where you'll have to decide on his status?

"Yeah," Mora said. "With a guy of Walt's ability, his stature and the respect that he's garnered. As hard as he's worked, you want to give him the benefit of every doubt and you want to give him a legitimate chance to get out here, but there is a point where you just have to say, 'Is it going to happen or isn't it?' We're not there yet, but certainly we're closer to it. It's just a matter of getting a gauge for where Walt feels he is, and we're in the process of evaluating that."

On guard Rob Sims returning to practice: "It'll help us, no question," Mora said. "But he's been out for a while. So, once again, it's a new lineup. I'm not sure how many new lineups we've had on the offensive line, but I'd say it's considerable. But it'll certainly help, because he's a good football player, and he has some familiarity with our scheme. He would be a guy that would probably be able to help Damion a little bit, in terms of calls and communication. They would not have ever worked together, so that's a disadvantage, but any time you can get a good football player on the field, it helps you."
