Game thread: Seahawks vs. Cardinals

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Third quarter

  • Third period ends with Arizona leading 24-3. Seattle has 10 yards rushing.

  • Seattle's offense has remained stagnant in the third quarter, and the Seahawks just gave up the third touchdown of the game after a Steve Breaston punt return, a big third-down catch by Larry Fitzgerald and then a touchdown grab by Breaston over Kelly Jennings and safety Jordan Babineaux.

    Second quarter

  • Lofa Tatupu left the field with 2 minutes left in the second quarter after tackling Larry Fitzgerald in the middle of the field. He was taken to the locker room with a shoulder injury. His return is questionable.

Seattle had 33 yards of total offense when it lined up for a punt with 6 minutes left in second quarter. The Seahawks' faked the punt and punter Jon Ryan completed a 42-yard pass to tight end John Carlson.

Can't blame the kicker today. Olindo Mare 28-yard field goal is Seattle's only points of the game.

Seattle had the ball for 43 seconds in the first quarter, but I think that was misleading. It seemed like much, much less.

  • Seattle runs the ball for the first time this game. We're 2 minutes into the second quarter.

    First quarter

Seattle has run three offensive plays, lost two fumbles and completed one pass in the first quarter. The Seahawks are down 14-0 and Arizona has the ball at the Seattle 9, first-and-goal.

Matt Hasselbeck just lost the ball on a sack by Calais Campbell, which was recovered by Bryan Robinson at the Seattle 23.

Disaster strikes: Seattle failed to recover a pooch kickoff after the touchdown, recovered by Greg Toler.

Arizona's first touchdown drive took 10:42. It's second touchdown drive took 1:08, and Arizona leads 14-0 before Seattle's offense had a snap.

  • Cardinals opening drive was methodical with only one play that gained more than 15 yards. It spanned 80 yards in 15 plays, and Kurt Warner was 9-for-9 passing on the drive for 64 yards.

Larry Fitzgerald caught three passes for 12 yards and a touchdown. Anquan Boldin caught two passes for 26 yards.

  • Cardinals convert three third downs on their first possession, which has consumed more than half of the first period. Arizona converted its fourth third down of the drive with a pass to Jerheme Urban, setting up first-and-goal at the 2.

Seahawks jump out to early lead: They introduced 15 players with the "starting" defense. Two extra defensive ends -- Darryl Tapp, Lawrence Jackson -- an extra cornerback -- Kelly Jennings -- and an extra safety -- Lawyer Milloy.

Rusty Tillman raises the 12th Man flag.
