First quarter

  • Edge of your seat. Edgerrin James made his Seahawks debut, carrying on Seattle's first two plays from scrimmage against Oakland, gaining 11 yards.

  • Men on the run: You can't beat watching a couple guys running for their jobs. Jordan Kent and Courtney Taylor were the first two Seahawks down the field to down Jon Ryan's punt at the Oakland 8.

Five plays, no passes: That's Matt Hasselbeck's day. He was on the field for Seattle's first series and now has been replaced by Mike Teel.

  • The Butler did it: Deon Butler caught two passes on Seattle's four-play touchdown drive, showing a little bit of speed and a whole lot of toughness during the drive.

  • Louis Rankin runs in a touchdown for Oakland on the Raiders' second possession. If he was touched by a Seahawk defender, I certainly didn't see it.

    Second quarter

  • If you say it real fast: Kent catch sounds like can't catch. Jordan Kent just had what would have been a first-down catch bounce off his hands. A defender was there, but that's the kind of play a receiver trying to make a roster spot needs to make.

  • Michael Bennett is playing inspired along the defensive line. He's gotten great penetration. On one play-action pass, he hit running back Louis Rankin just after the faked exchange. He's also knocked down Raiders' third-string quarterback Bruce Gradkowski and tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage.

  • Ben Obomanu might have grabbed hold of more than just the ball on his 38-yard touchdown catch with 2:13 left in the second quarter. That might have been a regular-season job he got his hands around.

  • Hail Mare full of grace, the boot is with thee. He's made one field goal and had three touchbacks in his four kickoffs.Third quarter

  • Devin Moore worked hard for his touchdown. Three consecutive runs.

  • WR Jordan Kent has a left ankle injury. He won't return it was just announced in the press box. That meant for this game.

  • S Courtney Greene suffered a knee injury and is not expected to return.

  • DL Michael Bennett knocked down Charlie Frye. Did Bennett fill out a change-of-address form because he's taken up resident in the Raiders' backfield.

  • Tackle Andre Ramsey has been carted off the field.

    Fourth quarter

  • Nick Reed logged a sack and forced a fumble the Raiders recovered. The numbers say it would be hard to keep both Reed and Bennett, but their play says it would be hard to leave one of them off the team.

I thought Mike Teel looked very good again in this game (for a rookie). If he continues to progress the way he is, he may be our QB of the future...  Posted on September 4, 2009 at 11:29 AM by Seahawker81. Jump to comment
