Exhibition game thread

Running back Julius Jones was not listed among the scratches, but he's not in uniform and won't be playing. Cornerback Marcus Trufant is on the sidelines, wearing jeans and a crooked hat.
Devin Moore and Deon Butler, your kickoff returners to start the game.
Seahawks' opening drive: Seattle started its first possession of the game in the shotgun formation, and it ended that first drive in the shotgun formation. Those two bookends were very different, however. The first one, an incompletion on a miscommunication. The second play resulted in a touchdown as André Goodman got beat deep by the speedster, Butler.
Hasselbeck completed four of six passes on the drive for 64 yards.
Hmmmm ... this looks familiar: Seahawks defense getting pushed down the field like they're wearing socks on a freshly waxed linoleum floor. And Denver scores on a third-down pass to Brandon Stokeley, a 3-yard scoring pass in which he beat Josh Wilson on a fade route.
The 2008 Seahawks called, they want their defense back.
Matt Hasselbeck: sacked for a 7-yard loss by D.J. Williams, who came on a delayed blitz and had a clean shot on Hasselbeck. That gasp you just heard? Seahawks fans everywhere.
Deon Butler has made a strong impression as a receiver with his 34-yard touchdown. As a kickoff returner? Not so much. He has failed to advanced two kickoffs beyond the 20.
We pause now: For a little bit of statistical perspective from the Football Outsiders' Doug Farrar:
In 2008, the Seahawks were the only NFL team to operate out of the shotgun less than 10 percent of the time (6%). Last week, up to 20 percent. This week, it's looking like at least 50. I think it allows Matt to progress through his reads and make things happen, as well as mitigating any pass protection issues. Football Outsiders has put together stats which show that teams outside of the "sample size" curve are generally more efficient in the shotgun, and I think you're going to see the Seahawks benefit from this in a way they haven't before.
3 minutes into the second quarter: The Seahawks have a defensive stop, forcing Denver to punt from inside its own 50.
Hassel-sacked: That would be a sack surrendered by Sean Locklear, who failed to pick up defensive end Kenny Peterson when the Broncos ran a stunt. End of drive.
Well, give the Seahawks this: Kyle Orton couldn't beat Seattle left-handed. He threw a pass into the end zone with his opposite hand and had it picked off by Ken Lucas in the end zone on third down, ending a Denver scoring threat.
C Chris Spencer injured: The Seahawks starting center suffered an injury on Seattle's last possession of the first half. He did not put weight on his left leg while helped to a bench on the sideline.
T.J. Houshyouredzonemoneyman: catches a 2-yard touchdown pass with 9 seconds left in the second quarter.
Are my eyes lying: Or did Kelly Jennings just force Daniel Graham -- a rock of a tight end -- to fumble away the football.
Nick Reed for president 53-man roster: He got his hand on that punt by the Broncos. It's not a block because the ball traveled past the line of scrimmage, but barely. It was a 15-yard punt because Reed got a paw on it.
C Chris Spencer: suffered an injury to his quadriceps, it was announced. It was his left leg that appeared to be bothering him at the end of the first half.
Brandon Coutu: Still hasn't missed a field-goal attempt in the exhibition season.
Nick Reed: just beat Stanley Bryant like he stole something, clobbered the quarterback. Another sack and I'm not sure, but I believe after that play he pointed at Farmer Cam. I could be wrong though.
Craig Terrill: limps off. He was placing some weight on his right leg, which appeared to be what is bothering him.
