Marcus Trufant has a disk issue in his back
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Cornerback Marcus Trufant is making progress, coach Jim Mora said. He apparently still has a ways to go before returning to the field. Mora said Trufant has a disk "issue" in his back. He was not more specific on the condition or when he will return, only that there is an issue with the disk and that the team will be cautious.
"Because of the history that we have with backs here, we're very careful," Mora said.
Trufant is on the physically unable to perform list. That gives the team options. If he's not ready for the start of the season, he can be kept on the PUP list. He will not count against the team's 53-man roster, and he would not be eligible to return until after the team's sixth game.
"It's not anything that will need surgery," Mora said of the injury, "It's good that we found this out now rather than in the middle of the season and tried to push him through it because now we can make some decisions how to move forward."
