Camp Mora: Day 12, Evening Summary

Posted by Danny O'Neil

  • Sounds of the game: The second half of the Seahawks' morning practice included an audio supplement. Crowd noise blared from speakers directed onto the field at the team's indoor practice facility. "We just need to work it every once in a while," coach Jim Mora said. "We won't wear it out. It becomes a little bit of a nuisance at times ... This was the perfect day because we were inside."

  • Gotta' be the shoes: Jordan Babineaux's shoes grabbed everyone's attention, but it was his hands that clasped onto a couple of interceptions during the morning practice. Babineaux played free safety with the first-string defense, stepping in for Deon Grant, who sat out practice because of a groin injury. "He made a couple plays out there," Mora said.

  • 10-4, good buddy: In addition to the crowd noise, the Seahawks also simulated game situation with coach-to-player communication. Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp communicated via his headset with the quarterbacks while linebackers coach Zerick Rollins talked to the middle linebacker. For quarterbacks Matt Hasselbeck and Seneca Wallace, it was a chance to hear someone other than coach Mike Holmgren on the other end of the headset before taking the field Sunday in San Diego. "I think they just need to be used to it before Saturday night, 'Whoa, who's that?' " Mora said.

  • Nate looks great: WR Nate Burleson sat out practice, resting his surgically repaired knee. It's hard to tell Burleson is coming off reconstructive knee surgery. He's not wearing a knee brace or even a sleeve, he doesn't shown any signs of a limp and he looks just as explosive as ever. On Monday, he made a leaping grab of a pass from Matt Hasselbeck, going up strong and extending to catch the ball high above cornerback Kelly Jennings.

  • OL Cory Withrow also missed practice. He appeared to injure his left leg during the morning workout.

  • Three players returned to practice in the evening: LB D.D. Lewis, DE Cory Redding and OT Ray Willis, who have been getting periodic rest during training camp. Update: Deion Branch also practiced in the evening.
