Camp Mora: Day 1

BOILING OVER: Coach Jim Mora predicted tackle Ray Willis would be involved in the first fracas of training camp. "I just didn't know it would be the first day," Mora said. First practice in fact. Willis gave an extra little shot above the shoulders of defensive end Lawrence Jackson, which elicited a response from Jackson and resulted in quick wrestling match.
Usually it takes a few days of practice before players get tired and short-tempered, but Willis and Jackson have a little history. They had a brief skirmish on the field during one of the offseason minicamps, too.
TWITTER-PATED: Linebacker Aaron Curry remains unsigned and Friday morning he used Twitter.com to congratulate two other players for sealing deals to "be able to play the game we all love." In the afternoon, he said he was having a great time with Jamila -- his fiancee -- and their dogs Ali, a black labrador, and Layla, a yellow labrador-Chesepeake Bay mix. "Loving life," he concluded.
GOTTA' HAND IT TO HIM: Wide receiver Nate Burleson suffered a season-ending knee injury in the season-opener last year, and he looked like someone making up for lost time on Friday. He made a diving catch behind Ken Lucas on a deep route, cradling the ball with one hand, and later leapt to make a catch in front of safety Brian Russell. "Practice never looks hard for him," quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said.
ROLL CALL: DE Baraka Atkins was excused from Friday's practice to attend a funeral in Florida. He won't be present at Saturday's practices either OL Cory Withrow and Grey Ruegamer signed with Seattle and practiced on Friday.
UNGER'S EXPECTATIONS: Rob Sims moved to first-string left guard after the release of Mike Wahle, leaving an opening at right guard. Mansfield Wrotto practiced there with the first unit on Friday and Max Unger worked with the second string. Is it possible Unger -- a rookie from Oregon -- can begin the season as the starter? "It's too early for me to say that," Mora said. "When we drafted him in the second round, we certainly felt, at some point he'd be a starter. I don't know if it'll be the first game, the first year, the second year."
