No more video: Aaron Curry shows pass-rushing speed off the edge
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Linebacker Aaron Curry was described as the safest pick in this year's draft, but if there was a flaw that people pointed to, it was a lack of production in pass rush. In fairness, he wasn't asked to do that much as a senior at Wake Forest, and so far during offseason workouts, the coaches have murmured that they've been impressed with his skill off the edge.
Well, take a look for yourself. Here is some footage from the one-on-one pass-rushing drills the Seahawks took part in this morning. Keep in mind that this is a drill stilted unfairly toward the defender, who has the choice of three different ways to go. The offensive lineman, meanwhile, is on an island and not only does he not have help, he doesn't get the benefit of any congestion around him. The defender has an open opportunity any direction he would choose. So when an offensive lineman really stonewalls an opponent, it's worth noticing.
Now, I have been informed that video of practice drills is not allowed. So I will have video summaries of interviews in the future, but the video of pass-rushing drills is not allowed, which explains the removal of this drill.
