Former Washington State player Chris Ivory has big night for New Orleans Saints in exhibition-game victory | NFL
Rookie Chris Ivory, who was dismissed from the Washington State program in August 2009, turned a swing pass into a tackle-breaking, zigzagging, 76-yard score in New Orleans' 36-21 exhibition victory over the San Diego Chargers on Friday night.
NEW ORLEANS — Rookie Chris Ivory, who was dismissed from the Washington State program in August 2009, turned a swing pass into a tackle-breaking, zigzagging, 76-yard score in New Orleans' 36-21 exhibition victory over the San Diego Chargers on Friday.
Ivory had game-high totals of 45 yards rushing and 76 yards receiving for the Super Bowl-champion Saints (2-1).
New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees was 18 of 27 for 240 yards.
The 22-year-old Ivory rushed for 534 yards and averaged 5.9 yards per carry in three seasons at WSU. He was dismissed for violating team rules and transferred to play for Tiffin University, a Division II school in Ohio.
"I know I've got to come out and work hard, open some eyes and just prove that I want to be here," Ivory said.
Philip Rivers was 16 of 27 for 167 yards for San Diego (1-2).
