Early draft choices Gerald McCoy, Joe Haden agree to terms with teams | NFL

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to terms on a five-year contract with first-round draft pick Gerald McCoy, and Cleveland agreed to terms on a five-year deal with first-round choice Joe Haden.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to terms on a five-year contract with first-round draft pick Gerald McCoy and also reached a six-year deal with left tackle Donald Penn, a restricted free agent, on the opening day of training camp.

"It's a great day for the Bucs," general manager Mark Dominik said Saturday, "in terms of securing two players to long-term deals that can be really important to this organization."

McCoy, a defensive tackle from Oklahoma who was the third player taken in this year's draft, got a five-year deal for $63 million, with guaranteed money in the range of $30 million to $35 million.

Penn reportedly got a six-year, $48 million deal, with about $20 million guaranteed.

Haden agrees

BEREA, Ohio — Ex-Florida cornerback Joe Haden, the seventh player drafted in the first round this year, reached agreement with the Cleveland Browns. Haden's deal reportedly is for five years and $50 million, with $26 million guaranteed.

Notes

• Of the first five draftees this year, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh — a ex-Nebraska standout picked by Detroit at No. 2 — is the only one who hasn't signed.

• Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth came to work with a slightly swollen knee, forcing him to scrap his latest chance to pass Washington's conditioning test — a test the two-time All-Pro failed Thursday and Friday.

• Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson was carted off the field with a back injury during an afternoon practice at training camp in Bethlehem, Pa.

The Eagles' leading receiver from last season walked to his vehicle after practice, and multiple sources reported the injury was not believed to be serious.
